Coverup, Oh my!
I was reading a very good post by Rob at SayAnything and something occurred to me. When did cover-up come to mean what it does today? It used to be an active process. Nixon helped cover-up Watergate. They erased tapes, destroyed records, smuggled documents out of the National Archives in their pants. Somebody actively covered-up. The new definition seems a little more… shall I say liberal?
Good Morning America (GMA) Floats Cheney Cover-Up So now a cover-up is not notifying the press that something has happened. As far as I can tell, Mr. Cheney did nothing to cover-up anything. Someone was accidentally hit with bird-shot. He received prompt medical attention, and is doing fine. Within 24 hours the property owner made a public statement about the event. Where is the cover-up again?
What I really want to know is, how do I get on this “Must be Notified” list. My blogging would be much easier if I never had to research anything and news stories were just phoned in my the participants. Maybe we should all call GMA and let them know what embarrasing things we’ve done recently. I’d hate to be guilty of covering something up, and the public has a right to know.

[...] I don’t think Mr. Cheney will run for President, and I don’t think he could win if he did, but here’s the key. Another Vice President could. If Mr. Cheney were to step down now, it would give another VP the chance to hold the office for a while before he had to start campaigning for the office of President. The press is screaming for someone’s head over the “cover-up”. I think the republican party should use this excuse to put someone into the VPs chair who can win the 2008 election. [...]
