Spam, spam, spam
I’m getting hit with a lot of comment and trackback spam the last few days. Very annoying. I see that I’m not alone. This is th same IP address that’s hitting me.
Comment spammers are getting more sophisticated every day.
All the comments show up as posted from 74.52.68.226.
I have another site besides the one I’ve linked here that has been hit hard by spam in the last six weeks or so and in what I now realize was a futile effort on my part to fight back I made a post on the blog that I have linked here and entitled it, “I hate spam”. For what it’s worth it made it worse and other things ensued that I believe my post brought about. Last night I deleted my post. Some things are better left unsaid.

I’ve posted several times about spam, and I have noticed that those posts get hit much more than any others. Very odd, and a little humorous. Currently it’s an annoyance, knowing it’s happening, but isn’t taking any real work on my part. I can always turn off the comments on the Spam posts if it gets too bad. Spam Karma is working beautifully so far though, so I’ll let it do it’s job.

Pig roaster? I haven’t gotten anything like that yet. That almost sounds interesting. I’m stuck with the various sex and drug related spam so far. Yawn.

Have you looked into Akismet? A WordPress plugin, it’s easy to use, and has really helped me in the fight against spam.

I tried several products before I found Spam Karma (which is working wonderfully). I ‘m not sure if Akismet was one of them or not. I much prefer Spam Karma to anything else I tried. The spam isn’t really causing any problems, I’m just getting a lot of spam rejected. Normally Spam Karma rejects 5-10 spam comments a week, but this last week or two I’ve been getting hundreds, almost all from the same IP address.
