Just curious
I’m fascinated by Sitemeter. Not the stats themselves, lots of visitors is nice, but I’m somewhat ambivalent about that most days. What interests me, is what brings people to this site. Search engines are often the source of my traffic. Sitemeter lets me know what search terms they used to arrive. I can understand getting hits from design related searches, humor maybe. I get a fair amount of hits from RL Klika’s Rakkasans photos, and that makes sense. What’s got me curious right now though, is why everyone is looking for Evan Esar quotes? Can anyone tell me why? Was he in the news recently or something?

see, at least those are relatively normal search terms. They come to me looking for the truly obscure. Woo!

Things just seem to go in cycles. A couple of years ago I did a series of posts with macro shots of the little white crab spiders in my garden and every once in a while I get a spate of searches for “white spiders.” It’s very strange, nothing for months and months, then suddenly, half a dozen in a few days.

I get the obscure searches too. I get great google results if you search “high desert junkyards”.

See, at least that could pass as normal. I get results for people with shoe fetishes and the like.
