Indiana Wandering – Patoka Lake

Went on a bit of a road trip last week. I saw Patoka Lake among other things. It’s a very beautiful reservoir in Indiana. Here are a few shots I took with my digital camera. I haven’t gotten the 35mm developed yet, they should be even better. I’ll post some of those when I get them back.

  1. Very nice. I like the feel and composition of the second one. Beautiful light.

  2. These pictures are really peaceful and beautiful, looks like you had a very nice time. I can just imagine being there, sitting in a lovely cabin on the lake, hope you were that lucky!

  3. I grew up on a farm most of which is now under Patoka, but about 20 remaining acres border it. We sold the farm about six years ago.

  4. Beautiful country, though it doesn’t seem to be doing very well economically right now. They’re building some very big looking roads onto the area though, so maybe tourism will pick up. That casino in French Lick looks like it’s getting set up to really move some people in too.

  7. Personally I don’t own anything in Indiana, I was just visiting. The photos were taken East of S. State Rd. 145 and North of Newton Steward Rd. The island in the photo is a little Northeast of where Newton Steward Road is broken by the lake.

  8. That was me, and we sold the farm. It wasn’t far from Newton Stewart (which was flooded to form the lake). Most of our farm we sold to the state, and is under the water, but it’s off Painter Creek. If we still owned the farm, I’d gladly give you or anyone permission to fish there.
