I’m guilty

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsI read the newest, and last, Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’m not sure why I feel that I shouldn’t like it. Maybe because the series in some sense seems like it should be for children. They aren’t really. More of a story for all ages.

The whole series is quite good. The author is a fantastic storyteller. There are some writers who are talented in the technical sense, but whose writing I don’t like. J. K. Rowling is, on the other hand, a storyteller. The story is captivating. I think she’s actually a really good writer too, but I’m not a good judge of that. For me the story is everything, and this is a good one.

I don’t want to give anything away, but I was surprised by the ending. It was both what I thought it would be, and yet surprising in some ways too. A very well done ending to a very good series.
