There are two ways to make a horse run very fast. – Joshua Jeffryes
A very clever comment on business, and of course horses. I’ve noticed this comparison myself. Forcing a horse run may let you win in the short term, but it will ruin the horse in the end.
I’m not sure what to think of Fred Thompson as a politician, but I like this statement from him.
“Columbia University gave a public forum today to a tyrant to spread his lies and deceit. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a mockery of free speech by standing in front of an auditorium of academicians and students and denying the existence of the Holocaust and his deadly intentions toward Israel.
“I find it ironic that Iran’s president accepted an invitation to speak at Columbia University, since students who dissent on Iranian campuses are not met with debate, they are met by a gun and imprisonment. – Fred Thompson
It’s a dark and foggy morning… Both in my head, and outside. Just not waking up this morning. Hope it’s better elsewhere.

Self proclaimed Iraq war vet/murderer is exposed as a fraud. Not really a big surprise, but I’m glad he’s officially being recognized as the fraud he is.
Beloved Professor, Randy Pausch, with weeks to live delivers touching final lecture.
I honestly didn’t know what to category to post the is under. I decided on art, because if this speech isn’t a work of art, I don’t know what is. Funny, inspirational, an incredible tribute to his life. After the first video plays, there are more excerpts of the speech on the right sidebar.
Strange week. I’ve been randomly shifting between idle moments during meetings and periods of great productivity at my computer. I obviously haven’t been posting here though. I’ll see what I can do about that.
Here’s a Budweiser commercial that aired once during the 2002 Super Bowl. This is their way of paying their respects to those who lost their lives in the September 11th tragedy.

The Blog Studio has announced a new Blog Design for HELLO, my name is BLOG!. It’s a perfect example of repetition of color as a design element. A beautiful site design as usual for the Blog Studio.
Rosemary of Rosemary’s Thoughts has a new site.
While she often attends my Open House posts, I don’t believe I’ve linked to any of her sites before. Her new domain, rosemarysthoughts.com looks like it’s in the final design stages, but it looks like it’s off to a good start with this WordPress site. Good luck Rosemary.

I have absolutely no need for an Ironkey, but I want one none the less.
Their thumb drives hold up to 4 Gigabytes of data, but includes a hardware encryption chip that scrambles the data so as to be completely unreadable without a password
Someone sent me some SeaBear – Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon the other day. My grandfather used to smoke salmon when I was a kid, it’s always been a favorite, but this was far beyond any I’ve had. Perfection.

I came across this 77 Resources to Simplify Your Life as a Web Designer article the other day. An impressive list. Very useful for anyone doing web design. I’ve got my own list of sites and resources that I work from, but this is more complete. I’ll definitely be adding to my list.
Dagmar Jeffrey of ARCHE•BLogGER is writing what should be a great series over at Juggling man design group. The first post is Taking Care of The Business End of Design, Part I: Show Me the Money…please?.
James Dyson of vacuum cleaner fame and fortune has created a fascinating garden he calls the The Wrong Garden for the Chelsea Flower Show. The whole garden is beautiful, but take a look at the water fountain. It appears to be a four sided fountain that runs uphill on all four sides. It of course doesn’t, but the illusion is quite clever.
A day of silence. There will be no posting at this site today.

I spent last night walking around Pittsburgh working on city-night photography. Pittsburgh police officers approached me asking me not to use a tripod do to it being a security threat. – Craig Photography: City Night Photography
In reference to Mr. Craig’s experience with his tripod, Michael Weir asks…
When is it OK to allow fear to publicly override profession?
I’d ask a more specific question. When is it OK to allow fear to override the civil liberties?
Were these officers suggesting that it’s against the law to take photographs on the street with a tripod? Or that tripods are themselves illegal in Philadelphia? I find both suggestions absurd. Absurd of course doesn’t mean it’s not true.
I think the most plausible answer here is that someone, the officers possibly or more likely a bureaucrat, is taking their job a little too seriously. Making arbitrary security rules, just to hear their own voice. Shameful behavior on whoever it is.

This could be a busy week, so blogging may be light, but I’ve been wrong before. A lot of my schedule is tentative at the moment, so it remains to be seen. If history repeats itself, either they’ll all happen and I’ll be swamped, or none of them will, and I’ll be bored. I’m hoping for swamped, but we’ll see how it goes.
