What Is Health? A State of Complete Physical, Mental and Emotional Well-Being
Health, as defined by the World Health Organization, is “an optimum condition of total health and not just the absence of illness and infirmity.” Various definitions have been employed over the years for various purposes. However, when it comes to a person’s health, it means more than a physical state. It also includes their mental state and the quality of their relationships in life.
Mental health, on the other hand, encompasses aspects such as moods, anxiety, stress management and personal functioning. These are all contributing factors towards a person’s ability to live a healthy, productive life. Just as physical health is a state of being fit and capable of doing things that would normally be painful or dangerous, mental health is more of being balanced and well-balanced. People with mental health are able to work productively in society as well as cope with everyday stresses with ease.
As part of a good healthful diet, a person should include lots of fruits and vegetables in their diet. The fruits and vegetables should be both fresh and rich in nutrients, especially Vitamin E. Folic acid is also a very important component of a healthy diet; this substance helps the body synthesize certain important molecules such as DNA, hormones and neurotransmitters, among others.
Healthy relationships are also important to maintaining good health. Having a supportive, compassionate partner can do a lot to improve one’s physical and mental health. Likewise, having close friends or family whom you can rely on and discuss your problems with is also crucial in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is because friends and family understand how you feel and have experienced things, which may be different from how you see or feel about things. This will allow you to deal with difficult times in your life better, thus improving your mental health.
